URGENT]]] will u buy SUV from china...?

everyone is invited to post honest and expert opinions.

i have been in negotiations with china for almost over 18 months. working out to import branded SUV type vehicles in pakistan with targeted selling price of 1-1.2million rupees since this amount seems to be affordable to many.

the vehicle is based on 2.2-2.4 litre petrol engine (so that many can install cng on to it) with full options including sun-roof, cd changer, reverse radar, abs, etc. they r 5 door (no 4x4 and no diesel) (will post pics once the agreement is signed)

initially we planned to book 5000units for first year. unfortunately during the time sbp raised the interest rates that resulted in fall in car sales (brand new ones)

though the vehicles r of good quality and targeted for urban market, it has a top speed of 140-160.

now how many of u would actually go of these vehicles. Based on the fact
1. Branded & Brand new with 33 support in khi-lhr-isb initially.
2. good looks, great specs much better quality
3. alternate (interms of price) corolla, lancer, sunny, etc)
4. copy of a very good SUV
5. average 10l/100 city

i would appreciate ur comments. and also please dont ask for the pics at this point.... and do u really think that sale target of 500units a month can be met.... (i have serious reservations over it at this time)

I personally believe that launching a new venture is always more of a gamble.If u want to know if I'm going to buy yhis car or not then honestly speaking I'm not sure.There are other issues involved in selling a car for eg. the type of ppl u r selling it to, the ppl it is actually meant for and the ppl who would want to pay 1 million for a car which im sure will not pay back a great deal in terms of resale.

I think you should carry out a complete market survey and see how CHERY QQ has been doing. This car of urs may be comparable to chery in the following ways:

1.china made
2.copy of a known brand
3.full optioned yet cheaper in orice
4.3S dealership

and many more....

so keep ur focus on chery , n see how its doing and probably thats the only way u can predict how ure car might do in the pakistani market.
