What Are the Signs of a Stuck o r Worn-Out Starter Solenoid in a Toyota Camry?

How can Camry owners diagnose a bad starter solenoid, and what role does it play in the overall starting system? Can tapping the starter motor be a temporary fix for a stuck solenoid?

The starter solenoid is a critical part of the starting system. Signs of failure include:

Clicking Noise Without Cranking: If you hear a click but the engine doesn’t crank, the solenoid may be stuck o r worn out.
Delayed Cranking: If the car hesitates before starting o r requires multiple attempts to start, the solenoid may not be engaging properly.

Temporary Fix:

Tapping the Starter Motor: Sometimes, tapping the starter motor gently with a hammer can free up a stuck solenoid temporarily. However, this is not a long-term solution.
