What causes a whining noise when turning the steering wheel in my Suzuki Alto?

A whining o r squealing noise while turning the steering wheel could indicate low power steering fluid, air bubbles in the system, o r a worn-out power steering pump. What should I check and how can this be fixed?

A whining o r squealing noise when turning the steering wheel is often related to the power steering system. The most common causes include:

Low Power Steering Fluid: If the fluid level is low, the power steering pump can suck in air, causing a whining noise.
Air in the Power Steering System: When there is air trapped in the power steering system, it can create noise while steering.
Worn Power Steering Pump: A failing power steering pump can produce whining o r squealing noises.
Contaminated Fluid: Old o r dirty power steering fluid can cause unusual noises when it circulates through the system.
Solution: Start by checking and topping off the power steering fluid. If the problem persists, the power steering pump may need to be inspected for wear o r damage, and the fluid should be flushed and replaced if contaminated.
