Why do Honda City power door locks make a clicking o r buzzing noise but do not lock/unlock?

Some Honda City owners notice a buzzing o r clicking sound when pressing the lock/unlock button, but the doors don’t actually lock o r unlock. Is this a sign of a failing actuator, motor problem, o r mechanical jam?

If you hear a clicking o r buzzing sound from the power door lock system but the doors fail to lock o r unlock, this is often a sign of a failing actuator o r a mechanical jam within the door lock system. The clicking o r buzzing noise is usually produced by the actuator motor attempting to engage but struggling to do so due to internal damage, worn-out gears, o r obstruction in the locking mechanism. Another possibility is a motor issue if the motor is weak o r faulty, it may produce noise but fail to provide enough torque to move the locking mechanism. In this case, the actuator likely needs to be replaced. Its also a good idea to check the lock mechanism for any physical obstructions that might be causing a jam.
