Why does my Suzuki Alto make a grinding noise when starting the engine?
Whenever I try to start my Suzuki Alto, I hear a grinding noise, almost like something metal is rubbing against another surface. This happens every now and then but is more frequent recently. Is this likely due to a problem with the starter motor o r the flywheel? What should I do to fix this issue?

A grinding noise when starting the engine typically indicates that the starter motor’s drive gear Bendix is not fully engaging with the flywheel. This could happen due to:
Worn-out starter motor gear: The teeth on the starter motor’s drive gear o r the flywheel may be worn down, causing them to misalign.
Faulty solenoid: If the solenoid isn’t properly engaging the starter motor, it could lead to a grinding noise.
Weak battery o r poor connection: If the battery is weak o r the connections are loose, the starter motor might not engage properly.
To fix this:
Inspect the starter motor and flywheel for wear.
Replace any worn-out gears o r parts.
Check the battery and clean the connections to ensure a strong power supply.
If the grinding continues, replacing the starter motor might be necessary.
