Why does my Suzuki Altos ABS light stay on? Could it be a sensor issue?

The ABS light in my Suzuki Alto stays on, even though the brakes seem to be working fine. Could this be a problem with a wheel speed sensor o r another sensor related to the ABS system? What could be causing the issue, and how do I fix it?
