Why does my Suzuki Khyber engine produce knocking o r tapping sounds?
Lately, my Khyber’s engine has developed a knocking o r tapping noise, especially when accelerating. It’s not constant, but it’s noticeable. Could this be related to low oil pressure, damaged pistons, o r valve lifters? What’s the best way to diagnose and fix this issue?

Knocking o r tapping sounds in the engine, especially when accelerating, can be caused by low oil pressure, worn-out valve lifters, o r damaged pistons. The sound could also be a sign of detonation pre-ignition, where the fuel is igniting too early in the cylinder, often caused by low-octane fuel o r incorrect timing. Another possibility is worn valve lifters, which can make a tapping noise, especially at higher RPMs. To fix this, start by checking the oil level and quality, as low oil pressure can lead to knocking sounds. If the oil is old o r contaminated, change the oil and filter. If the issue persists, a more in-depth inspection of the timing, pistons, and valve lifters is required, and it might be necessary to replace any damaged components.
