Many Camry owners report that the check engine light comes on unexpectedly. How often does this happen due to faulty sensors like the oxygen sensor o r knock sensor, and what diagnostic steps should be taken?

The Check Engine Light CEL often illuminates in the Toyota Camry due to faulty sensors, particularly oxygen sensors, MAF sensors, and knock sensors. These sensors regulate essential functions like fuel-air mixture, ignition timing, and exhaust emissions. When one of these sensors malfunctions, it sends erroneous signals to the Engine Control Unit ECU, triggering the CEL. In Pakistan, where temperature extremes and fuel quality can be issues, this happens fairly frequently. Diagnostic steps involve using an OBD-II scanner to read the error codes and identify the faulty sensor, followed by further testing o r replacement.
