Why is my Suzuki Altos check engine light on due to a sensor malfunction?

I recently noticed that the check engine light in my Suzuki Alto turned on. After getting the car checked, I was told it could be a sensor malfunction. What sensors are commonly responsible for triggering the check engine light, and how can I fix the issue?

The check engine light in your Suzuki Alto could be on due to a malfunctioning sensor. The sensors that are commonly responsible for triggering the check engine light include:

Oxygen Sensor: Measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases, and a malfunction can lead to improper fuel mixture, affecting engine performance and fuel economy.
Mass Airflow Sensor MAF: Measures the amount of air entering the engine. A faulty MAF sensor can cause rough idling, poor acceleration, o r increased fuel consumption.
Crankshaft Position Sensor: If this sensor fails, it can cause starting problems o r the engine to stall because the engine control unit ECU doesn’t receive the necessary signal to determine the crankshaft’s position.
Coolant Temperature Sensor: If it fails, it may affect the engine’s temperature regulation, causing overheating o r poor engine performance.
Knock Sensor: This sensor detects engine knock pinging and adjusts the ignition timing. A failure can lead to poor engine performance.
How to fix it:

Scan the error codes: Use an OBD-II scanner to read the error codes and determine which sensor is malfunctioning.
Replace the faulty sensor: Once the faulty sensor is identified, replace it. For instance, if the oxygen sensor is the issue, replacing it will resolve the problem.
Clear the check engine light: After replacing the sensor, use the scanner to clear the error code and reset the check engine light.
