Why is my Suzuki Mehran consuming more petrol after recent tuning?
I recently had my 2017 Suzuki Mehran tuned at a local workshop, but now it seems to be consuming more petrol than before. I used to get around 13-14 km/l, and now it’s barely 10 km/l. Could it be due to incorrect carburetor settings o r something else they might’ve messed up during the tuning? Any tips on what to check?

After a tuning, if your Mehran starts consuming more petrol, its likely the carburetor was not adjusted properly. In Pakistan, many mechanics tune by ear rather than using proper tools like a CO meter o r vacuum gauge, which leads to incorrect air-fuel mixture. A rich mixture more fuel than air will give poor mileage. Also, check:
Spark plug condition – carbon fouling from a rich mixture.
Ignition timing – if its advanced o r retarded too much, it affects fuel burn.
Fuel leakages – sometimes loose connections go unnoticed.
Idle RPM – if it’s set too high, it wastes fuel even when stationary.
Go to a trusted mechanic who understands the balance between performance and fuel economy, especially for carburetor engines like Mehran.
