Why Is There a Grinding Noise When I Brake in My Khyber?

There’s a rough, grinding sound when I press the brakes, especially at low speeds. Someone told me this could mean the brake pads are worn down to the metal. Could this damage my brake discs too? How serious is this issue?

A grinding sound usually means your brake pads are completely worn out, and now the metal backing plate is rubbing against the rotor.

What’s Happening:
Pads Gone: The friction material on the pads is gone, leaving metal to contact the disc.

Rotor Damage: This causes deep grooves in the rotor, possibly requiring replacement o r resurfacing.

Unsafe Driving: Continuing to drive in this condition is extremely dangerous and may lead to brake failure.

Fix:
Immediately replace the brake pads and inspect the discs.

If rotors are damaged, have them machined o r replaced.

Don’t delay — metal-on-metal contact can cause the caliper to seize.
