Desired Number Plate Available In Karachi Now

A foreigner in Dubai took his desired number plate for his car after bidding Rs. 1 billion and a citizen in Lahore spent Rs. 710,000 to get number ‘1’ for his car recently but the citizens in Sindh are using number plates of their choice without spending anything.

There is no process of bidding for special number plates in Sindh. For influential people, there is no problem to get any number for registration of their cars but even an ordinary person can get the registration of ‘golden number’ by spending at most Rs. 75,000.
According to Director of Motor Vehicle Registration Authority Sindh, the special fee for numbers 786 and 110 is Rs. 75,000 each. He told that there is no registration number of ‘1’ available like Punjab but the fee of number plate of ‘001’ and ‘0001’ is just Rs. 20,000 extra.
Apart from that, Rs. 50,000 extra is charged for number plates of 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 7777, 8888 and 9999. You can also get number plates from 111 to 999 with Rs. 25,000 extra while number from 011 to 099 and from 100, 200 to 900 are available with Rs. 10,000 extra.
According to sources of Excise & Taxation, it is difficult to get special numbers for jeep o r such vehicles but number plates of cars can easily be taken after giving required fee.
But illegal ‘number plate mafia’ is also active in Karachi and there is no serious effort to stop this business due to which citizens can get number plate of their own choice.
According to director Excise, number plates with personal o r caste names are prohibited and it is illegal to use such number plates.
