Honda City Facelift 2023 Debuts in Thailand

In a recent update, the Honda City sedan, which originally premiered in Thailand about three and a half years ago as the 7th generation model, has received a facelift exclusively tailored for the Thai market.

Although Thailand was the pioneering market to introduce the 7th-generation Honda City sedan back in November 2019, it has now slightly lagged behind in receiving the facelift. India took the lead by launching the refreshed version earlier this year.

Design

The front fascia of the car has undergone several modifications, notably involving a smaller chrome bar that necessitated the redesign of the grille and lower intake. The non-RS variants now sport a multi-slat design for the grille, whereas the RS models exhibit a stylish honeycomb pattern instead.

Furthermore, the RS models of the Honda City sedan offer additional enhancements such as skid skirts, fog lamps, and a sporty lower apron that visually connects to the fog lamp enclosures through sleek black trim. Another notable change can be observed in the revised rear bumper, where the RS variants stand out with a distinct diffuser-like element that beautifully complements their black boot lid spoiler.

Interior

The revamped Honda City facelift retains the well-known dashboard layout of its predecessor, preserving familiarity for drivers. Nevertheless, it incorporates several notable improvements. In particular, the VT EC Turbo variants now boast a brand-new 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display, enhancing the overall visual experience.

Meanwhile, the RS models showcase an upgraded interior with a combination of leather and synthetic leather upholstery, replacing the previous blend of leather and suede. This alteration lends a sophisticated touch to the cabin. On the other hand, the SV models boast dark red synthetic leather trim on the center console and door panels, creating an eye-catching contrast within the predominantly black-themed interior.

Power

In the updated Honda City facelift, the powertrain options for the V, SV, and RS models remain consistent and unchanged. They continue to feature a 1.0 L turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering a robust 121 horsepower and 173 Nm of torque. This reliable engine powers the front wheels through a CVT gearbox, mirroring the configuration seen in the previous version.

On the other hand, the e: HEV variants retain Honda's renowned Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system. These particular variants employ an electric motor with an impressive output of 107 horsepower (80 kW) and 253 Nm of torque to propel the front wheels. The hybrid system incorporates a petrol engine that can engage through a single-speed transmission known as the E-CVT, ensuring direct drive at higher speeds to optimize overall efficiency.
