Hyundai Introduces Advanced Heated Windscreen

Hyundai has introduced a cutting-edge windscreen innovation called “Metal-Coated Heated Glass,” which is designed to improve defrosting efficiency and enhance vehicle performance in extreme weather conditions. This Hyundai heated windscreen operates with a 48-volt system, enabling it to defrost and demist in under five minutes, compared to over 15 minutes required by traditional 13.5-volt systems in sub-zero temperatures. This breakthrough represents a significant advancement in heated windscreen tech, making it particularly valuable for electric vehicles.

Unlike older advanced windscreen technology, Hyundai’s solution utilizes 20 layers, including a unique metal-coated layer. This metal layer is heated using the 800-volt architecture found in Hyundai’s all-electric Genesis GV70 and GV60 models. Even in temperatures as low as -18°C, this system rapidly clears frost and fog, ensuring better visibility and safety. This Hyundai windscreen innovation showcases a leap forward in integrating high-performance features with sustainable energy solutions.

The technology isn’t limited to winter functionality. During warmer months, the metal coating reflects sunlight, reducing solar energy penetration by 60%. This feature helps lower the cabin temperature by 2-3°C, reducing dependence on air conditioning. The reduced reliance on air-conditioning conserves energy in electric vehicles, extending their range while improving overall efficiency. This Hyundai heated windscreen upgrade enhances comfort and promotes a more eco-friendly driving experience.

Hyundai is focusing on utilizing this innovation in electric vehicles, with an eye on future technologies such as autonomous driving and augmented reality systems. The advanced system consumes 10% less power compared to traditional air-conditioning systems, making it a cleaner and more efficient solution. This heated windscreen tech aligns with Hyundai’s vision of developing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions for the future.

While Hyundai and Genesis have not yet confirmed which models will feature this Hyundai heated windscreen, the technology signals a significant milestone in the automotive industry. It demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to delivering advanced windscreen technology that not only improves vehicle performance but also supports energy efficiency and driver comfort. The industry is eagerly awaiting the debut of this transformative feature, which is poised to set new standards for EV functionality.
