Karma Automotive Launches Kaveya Coupe and Gyesera Sedan
Karma Automotive, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in California, has unveiled two new models: the Kaveya coupe and the Gyesera sedan. This marks a notable shift for Karma, positioning itself as a provider of ultra-luxury electric vehicles. The Kaveya is scheduled to make its debut in late 2025, while the Gyesera is expected to arrive next year.
Kaveya Coupe: A Super Coupe GT:
The Karma Kaveya, described as an 'EV super coupe GT,' measures 4,768 mm in length, slightly longer than the BMW iX3. Constructed with an aluminum frame and complemented by carbon fiber body panels, the Kaveya features butterfly doors, slim headlights, and a deployable rear spoiler. Weighing 2,404 kg, the Kaveya may not be lightweight, but its performance metrics are impressive.
Offering two variants – a 536-horsepower rear-wheel-drive version and a more powerful 1,180-horsepower all-wheel-drive model – the Kaveya is equipped with a 120 kWh battery pack. This provides a range of over 402 km and a rapid charging time of 45 minutes from 10 to 80%. The all-wheel-drive Kaveya aims to accelerate from 0-97 km/h in under 3 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 290 km/h.

Gyesera Sedan: Karma's First Touring Sedan:
The Gyesera, Karma's first all-electric 'touring sedan,' stretches 5,080 mm in length, slightly longer than the Tesla Model S. Sharing a similar aluminum spaceframe with carbon fiber and aluminum panels, it also weighs 2,404 kg. The Gyesera boasts a 590-horsepower rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain, capable of a 0-97 km/h sprint in under 4.2 seconds and a top speed above 217 km/h. Like the Kaveya, it utilizes a 120-kWh battery, ensuring a range of over 402 km.
Both vehicles were designed by Michelle Christensen, known for her work on the second-generation Acura NSX. Karma claims her influence is evident in the sleek, aerodynamic lines and sophisticated styling of both models.
Karma's Relaunch and Future Plans:
Karma's relaunch under the ownership of China's Wanxiang Group includes ambitious plans to debut new products and concepts every six months starting from the third quarter of 2024. This roadmap includes the reintroduction of the Revero plug-in hybrid sedan. However, the success of these plans remains to be seen, given the competitive and rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
