KIA Stonic Be Available In 2 Variants

KIA Lucky Motors is going to release its new vehicle, KIA Stonic in the auto market very soon. Mostly the leading car brands have introduced their latest SUVs but the auto market is demanding more and Pakistani auto market is also looking for the release of more cars of different brands.

KIA launched Sportage and Sorento earlier and now KIA Lucky Motors / KLM is going to launch this crossover. We have learnt about this vehicle for some time now as ‘The Stonic’. KIA said that the word ‘Stonic’ is derived from two words ‘Speedy and Tonic’. This is the smallest crossover, which sits two steps down under the previously launched vehicle, sportage.

This vehicle, Stonic is first generation model and it was first introduced in September 2017 and this vehicle is added with facelift in October 2017. Stonic is assembled in South Korea and China and this vehicle is exported to various other countries. Now Pakistan has become third country, which is assembling this car to meet its local requirements.

Pakistani Launch Updates

It is rumored that KIA Stonic will be launched in Pakistan within next few days. The variant of this car is not officially launched and the official specs of this car are available now. The domestic vehicle will be launched in local market in two variants, “EX” and “EX+” and the customers will find the latest features and options of this car.

Dimensions

KIA Stonic is the sub-compact B-segment crossover and this vehicle is identical to KIA Rio hatchback and Stonic is the Rio hatchback on steroids and this variant is taller and lifted vehicle. The dimensions of this vehicle show that it has length of 4140 mm, width of 1809 and height of 1520 mm and the wheelbase of this car is 2580 mm. MG ZS is overall longer and wider and size of the wheelbase is same as Stonic.



Exterior

The facelifted KIA Stonic is launched in Pakistan and the design elements of black plastic cladding around the bold wheel arches, roof rails, side skirts, lifted body and bigger wheels give impressive look of the SUV for the compact body. You can find typical KIA trigger-nose grille and has the horizontal character lines with parallel lines, which go down the bonnet of the car. The design of the Stonic was done by keeping in mind the urban living and you can see messaging “SUV for City” printed in marketing material and ad.

Stonic is going to launch with new brand identity of KIA and you can watch the new logos on front and rear side of the car. EX variant will be launched in the market with Matte Black front grille, and it is added with Bi-Function projector headlights and LED DRL on the front side. EX+ will be added with LED headlights with 4-strip horizontal LED DRLs and the front grille has the piano black. Both variants of this vehicle will have standard with projector fog lamp, which is provided in lower bumper.



You can find other standard features in this vehicle, which are turn signal on power-adjustable, retracted and heated side-view mirror, pole type radio antenna, body-colored handles, skid plate on the rear bumper, rear fog light, auto headlights and high mounted stop lamp. There are most of the features, which are shared in these two variants, which are roof racks but rear LED combination lamps are provided in EX+. The variant, EX will be provided with 185/65R15 and EX+ will be provided with 195/55R16 alloy wheels.

Interior

On the interior side of the car, KIA Stonic may not look beautiful o r dashing like various other new generation SUVs as Stonic was launched in the market about 4 years before. The hard plastic is used in various parts and it seems that it has better build quality, when you watch other KIA local products. As this variant is smaller in size but the interior designed packaging will give more space on the front seats and rear seats may have less space for the adults.



The dashboard of the car has horizontal lines and they give wider look. The Stonic, which is manufactured in Pakistan will be added with various features as the same level as seen in the international model and KIA has tried its best to introduce latest features and specs.

EX will be added with black single tone dashboard and EX+ will be provided with two-tone gray + yellow trim pieces to give the sporty look. Both the variants of this vehicle will have Bluetooth and you can enjoy the infotainment system, which can make Apple Car-Play & android auto. The provision of automatic climate control in this vehicle with digital display has the standard.

EX will be introduced in the market as standard and it has poly-urethane steering wheel and EX+ will have sporty look leather wrapped D-Cut/flat bottom design and both steering wheels will be provided with phone and media controls. You can find the standard conventional analogue instrumental cluster. EX+ will be provided with 4.2 inches TFT display and EX will be provided with 3.5 inches display in order to reflect different vehicle-related information like mileage and others.



EX will be provided in the vehicle with fabric seating surfaces and EX+ will be provided with combination of faux leather and fabric. In the EX+, you will find the driver seat adjustment and there is sun roof and automatic electro-chromic rearview mirror in this car. The customers will also find metal liners on brake and accelerator paddle.

The exterior features are also added with smart entry, 6 speakers, sunglass holder and illuminated vanity mirrors for driver and passenger, 60:40 folding rear seats, luggage area lamps will be standard in both variants. There are some other exterior features, which are central console box, cruise control, push-button start are provided in EX+ only. Both the models of Stonic will have rear screen wiper defogger and there is automatic defogging system on front screen.

Mechanical

Stonic is launched in the auto market in multiple engine options and Pakistan assembled model will be provided with 1.4L [1368cc] multi-port injection / MPI engine with front wheel drive. This model is provided with the engine, which has compression ratio of 10.5, which produces 98 HP @6000 RPM and the top of the torque of 133 Nm is at 4000 RPM.

Stonic both variants will be provided in the market with conventional 6-speed automatic transmission and it has front-wheel drive and there is no option of All-Wheel drive, electric power steering and ABS is as standard. This car will have McPherson strut on front and you do not find error in rear suspension setup, which is reflected on official specs sheet. The torsion beam on rear standard on all versions and variants of Stonic are introduced.



Safety

As far as the safety of Stonic is concerned, Pakistan domestic Stonic has various safety features and the chassis uses high strength steel in the rigid structure for the improved crash resistance. The chassis of the car uses the special structural adhesive for the improved bonding of structural components, less noise and lightweight. It is added with 6 airbags for driver, front passenger, side and curtain and they are standard in size and quality in both variants of this car. You can find the hill-start assist, and vehicle stability control and tire pressure monitoring system TPMS will be provided as standard. You can find the parking sensor on front and rear side, rear view camera in EX+ only.

Pricing

We have shared all necessary information about this vehicle but the brand has not disclosed the price of this vehicle. When other automotive companies started placing Stonic next to C-segment sedans including Corolla, Civic and Elantra to carry out comparison and pricing of the vehicle, lot of confusion was faced.

KIA Stonic is the B-segment entry-level model on the basis of compact Kia Rio hatchback and you cannot compare the C-segment cars. KIA Lucky Motors brought Sportage so that you can compete with C-segment vehicles and we watched that Sportage converted sedan buyers to Sportage successfully.

KIA has now introduced the B-segment crossover, Stonic and the target of the company is that it should be entry-level small sedans like Yaris, Alsvin and City, which is the right place to find you desired segment. Stonic can change the sales of these competitors like B-segment sedans by providing the correct price of the vehicle. It is said that the price of Stonic will be considered between PKR 3.5 million to 4 million and we can understand that Stonic has various features and options and they are introduced in the segment for the first time. The pricing of the vehicle near to PKR 4 million might put it right next to Civic, Corolla and the buyers do not switch to smaller sized Stonic. The buyers of Corolla and Civic look towards Tucson, Sportage, Proton X70, MG HS and other similar sized crossovers to increase the budget.

Price the Stonic near to PKR 4 million will filter out potential and possible B-segment and the customers will not afford to buy it. When you consider the pricing of the vehicle as PKR 4 million, they may consider sedans to make the perfect decision in favor of Stonic. The company places sedan at PKR 3.5 million will be correct approach and it will help to gain good sales.
