Leapmotor's First Global SUV: 530 km Range Unveiled

Following Stellantis' acquisition of a 20% stake in Leapmotor, there are strong indications that the Chinese carmaker's inaugural SUV, the C10, is poised to make its mark on the international stage. Initially showcased at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has now released a comprehensive specifications sheet for the Leapmotor C10, shedding more light on its capabilities.

The SUV will incorporate a Large Format Prismatic (LFP) battery pack manufactured by CALB, boasting a robust 69.9 kWh capacity. Paired with a rear-mounted electric motor delivering an impressive 231 horsepower, the Leapmotor C10 is geared for performance. According to CLTC, the SUV can cover an impressive 530 kilometers on a single charge.

Built on the Leap 3.0 platform, the C10 SUV prioritizes internal space, safety, and torsional rigidity. The platform is designed to accommodate an 800V charging architecture, emphasizing efficient charging capabilities.

The C10's curb weight ranges between 1940 kg to 1965 kg, underlining a commitment to a balanced and agile driving experience. The SUV's dimensions, measuring 4,739 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, showcase a well-proportioned and spacious design.

Inside, the C10 offers a generous and comfortable interior. The dashboard layout is noteworthy, featuring a smaller instrument cluster screen alongside a prominent, centrally located infotainment panel above the middle console.

In terms of pricing, the anticipated cost of the C10 in China falls between RMB 150,000 and 200,000 (€19,600 - €26,100). However, as the SUV ventures into international markets, it is expected to carry a higher price tag. Leapmotor envisions monthly sales of around 10,000 units, emphasizing their ambitious plans for the C10's market presence.
