MG, a popular British automaker, has finally launched its highly anticipated mini electric vehicle (EV) in India, known as the MG Comet. The vehicle, which is an adaptation of the Wuling Air that is already available in other countries, targets city car buyers who are looking for an affordable and compact option. Test Drives and Reservations
MG Comet will be available for test drives starting on April 27th, while reservations for the three-door EV will commence on May 15th. Deliveries are expected to begin later in the same month.
Design and Features
The boxy design of the MG Comet is accentuated by MG's Extended Horizon connecting lights and a full-width LED light bar. The charging port features an illuminated MG logo, and there is chrome and piano black trim that connects the wing mirrors. The EV also has vertical rear windows, asymmetrical side windows, and 12-inch alloy wheels.
The interior features a white and grey color scheme with two 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, and manual AC controls. The front passenger seat can be tumbled and folded with one touch, while the rear seats split 50:50. The EV has three USB ports and 55 connected features.

Driving Range and Performance
MG's Comet EV is powered by a 42 hp and 110 Nm electric motor that drives the rear wheels via a single-speed gearbox. The vehicle's lightweight and rear-wheel drive configuration makes it fun to drive. It has an ARAI-certified driving range of 230 km on a single charge, which is made possible by an IP67-rated 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery sourced from Tata AutoComp. The onboard charger allows for a charging time of 7 hours.
