Nissan Introduces Ariya Nismo with 429 Horsepower

Nissan has revealed the Ariya Nismo at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, marking a significant addition to their electric vehicle (EV) lineup. Scheduled for release in the upcoming spring, this crossover SUV represents Nissan's most potent EV model to date.

Derived from the Ariya e-4ORCE foundation, the Ariya Nismo showcases a distinctive body kit featuring dynamic skirts adorned in the tuning company's signature black and red hues. Notably, the electric motors in the Nismo variant have been enhanced by 10% in output compared to their standard counterparts. This power boost, coupled with specialized acceleration tuning and the exclusive Nismo driving mode, is poised to deliver a more exhilarating driving experience.

In a departure from the trend among some EV manufacturers to simulate engine sounds, the Ariya Nismo deliberately produces a sound reminiscent of Formula E electric racing, adding an authentic touch to the driving experience. The additional exterior panels incorporated into the design are claimed to enhance the aerodynamic performance of the Ariya Nismo, although the actual impact remains subject to validation.

Inside the cabin, Nismo has infused distinctive elements, including Nismo-branded seats, red accents on the center console and dashboard, red contrast stitching, and a small Nismo logo adorning the dashboard.

Nissan offers two versions of the Ariya Nismo in Japan. The base model, Nismo B6 e-4ORCE, is equipped with a 66 kWh battery pack, delivering 362 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque through its two electric motors. Impressively, this outpaces the standard Ariya e-4ORCE with the same battery pack by nearly 30 hp.

The more intriguing variant, Nismo B9 e-4ORCE, features a larger 91 kWh battery, boasting 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This represents a substantial 40 hp increase compared to the non-Nismo Ariya with the same battery pack, and interestingly, the torque figure remains unchanged.

While specific acceleration times for the Ariya Nismo are undisclosed, Nissan has emphasized its enhanced cornering performance, hinting at a thrilling driving experience for enthusiasts.
