Sony Joins Honda to Make Electric Cars

Sony has made the announcement that it has made the collaboration with Honda to manufacture the electric cars. The company has announced the joint venture during the month of June 2022 and Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has been formed. The two Japanese tech companies signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the month of March for the joint development and commercialization of the high value-added battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The viewers will know that Sony joins Honda to make electric cars.

The representative directors of JV, chairman and CEO of Honda and president and COO of Sony made the announcement of the formal establishment.

SHM mentioned that it will start accepting the pre-orders for the first product, which will start before the ending of 2025. The company will start their first customer deliveries in 2026 in US. The company will start its delivery in Japan in second half of 2026. The company will manufacture its first product in the factory of Honda in North America.

The high value EV concept of JV will give level 3 autonomous driving capabilities and level 2+ driver assistance in the urban setting. This will give the new human-machine interface with the cloud service connectivity.

The lineup of SHM is added with crossover and sedan and Sony made the claim that both EVs will be equipped with two electric motors to send 536 hp to all four wheels. It does not gives the details of battery pack, electric range, features and price of the car. The company has not made the announcement regarding launching of this car.
