Toyota GR86 Hakone Returns for 2025 with New Upgrades

Toyota is reintroducing the GR86 Hakone special edition for 2025, following its limited run in 2020. This model follows last year's Trueno edition and includes a Performance package with upgraded dampers and brakes, enhancing its sporty appeal. The return of the Hakone edition signifies Toyota's commitment to offering exclusive, high-performance variants of its popular lightweight sports car.

Elegant Ridge Green Finish
The 2025 Hakone edition features a stunning Ridge Green color, differing from the glossy finish of the original. This reimagined version sports a flatter paint, giving it a more subdued look. Complementing the green exterior are 18-inch satin bronze wheels and a color-matched ducktail spoiler. Inside, the Hakone boasts tan leather trim and a special-edition shift knob with bronze accents, enhancing the car's premium feel.

Performance and Transmission Options
Built on the 86's Premium trim, the Hakone special edition can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. The included Performance Pack, initially introduced with the Trueno edition, features Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes with larger rotors. These enhancements ensure superior handling and braking performance, making the Hakone a standout in the GR86 lineup.

Enhanced Driving Dynamics
Toyota has also improved the overall driving dynamics of the GR86 lineup for 2025. Retuned shock absorbers and electric power steering enhance the lightweight model's responsiveness. Additionally, reworked throttle mapping and revamped torque control aim to improve throttle response and ease rev-matching in manual transmission models, contributing to a more engaging driving experience.

Limited Production and Pricing
Production of the 2025 GR86 Hakone special edition is limited to just 860 units in the United States. While Toyota has not yet released pricing details for the Hakone or other 2025 GR86 models, more information is expected before the cars go on sale later this year. Enthusiasts eagerly await these updates to secure their chance at owning this exclusive sports car.
