Can a Bad Purge Valve Affect Fuel Efficiency in My Suzuki Bolan?

I’ve noticed that my Bolan is using more fuel than usual, even on short trips. There’s no fuel leak, and the air filter is clean. Could a stuck o r faulty purge valve cause poor fuel economy? How does this valve impact fuel use?

Yes, a stuck open purge valve can let excess fuel vapor into the engine, resulting in a rich air-fuel mixture. This leads to:

Higher fuel consumption

Carbon buildup on spark plugs

Smoky o r heavy exhaust

This is especially noticeable in Bolan vans that are used for frequent short trips, heavy loads, o r in stop-and-go city traffic like in Lahore o r Karachi. Replacing the purge valve and ensuring proper EVAP system function can restore mileage and performance.
