Can a Faulty Alternator Cause Bulbs to Burn Out in My Suzuki Bolan?

Someone told me that if the alternator is overcharging, it could cause the bulbs to blow. Is this true for Suzuki Bolan? How do I check if my van’s electrical system is damaging the lights?

Yes, a faulty alternator that overcharges the battery can send too much voltage to all electrical components, including bulbs. This causes:

Bulbs to blow prematurely.

Flickering lights.

Other electrical damage radio, battery, etc..

You can test alternator output with a multimeter. When the engine is on, it should read around 13.5–14.2 volts. If it’s higher like 15V o r more, the voltage regulator inside the alternator may be faulty and needs replacement. Driving long-term with high voltage can damage many components.
