Can a Rain Repellent Coating Cause Streaks on My BMW 2 Series Windshield?

I applied a rain repellent coating to my BMW 2 Series windshield, but now I’m seeing streaks when the wipers operate. Could this be due to improper application, o r is it a normal effect of these coatings?

Yes, rain repellent coatings like Rain-X o r similar hyhobic treatments can sometimes cause streaking due to:

Improper Application: If the coating is not evenly applied o r buffed out properly, it may cause streaks.
Excess Product Buildup: Too much repellent can create a hazy layer that leads to streaking.
Incompatibility with Wipers: Some wipers don’t work well with repellent-treated windshields, causing chattering and streaks.
Solution: Ensure even application, buff the windshield properly, and use wiper blades designed for coated glass.
