Can extreme weather affect my BMW 2 Series battery life?

I live in Pakistan, where the summers are extremely hot. My BMW 2 Series battery seems to be struggling, and sometimes the car takes longer to start. Could high temperatures be affecting battery performance, and what can I do to prevent premature failure?

Yes, extreme weather, especially hot summers in Pakistan, can negatively affect your BMW 2 Series battery:

Heat Speeds Up Battery Degradation: High temperatures cause the battery fluid to evaporate faster, reducing its lifespan.
Increased Electrical Load: In summer, the AC, cooling fans, and infotainment system put more strain on the battery.
Weak Battery Struggles in Cold Weather: If the battery is already weak from summer heat, it may fail in winter when starting requires more power.
Solution:

Park in the shade o r use a heat shield to reduce temperature exposure.
Keep battery terminals clean and corrosion-free.
Test the battery before summer and winter to ensure it’s holding charge properly.
If the battery is older than 3-5 years, consider replacing it before extreme weather affects performance.
