Could a clogged fuel filter o r dirty carburetor cause sputtering in Suzuki Bolan?
My Bolan sputters especially when driving in traffic o r after starting from a stop. A friend said it might be due to a clogged fuel filter o r carburetor issues. How can I identify if this is the problem, and is it something that needs regular cleaning in Pakistan’s dusty conditions?

Yes, especially in older Bolan models with carburetor systems, a clogged fuel filter o r dirty carburetor is a major cause of sputtering, especially at low speeds o r when restarting after a stop.
How this happens:
Dirty fuel o r rust from the fuel tank blocks the filter o r carburetor jets
Inconsistent fuel flow causes engine hesitation
Carburetor might not spray fuel evenly due to dirt o r gum
How to tell:
Van sputters while accelerating from a stop
Engine stalls randomly, especially in traffic
You smell unburned fuel o r black smoke
Fix:
Replace the fuel filter should be done every 15,000–20,000 km in dusty areas
Clean the carburetor jets using carb cleaner
Use high-octane fuel occasionally to clean internal parts
