Does a clogged cabin air filter affect AC cooling in the BMW 2 Series?

My BMW 2 Series AC airflow feels weak, and the cooling isnt effective. I havent replaced the cabin air filter in a long time. Could a clogged filter be causing this issue, and how often should it be replaced to maintain optimal cooling performance?

Yes, a clogged cabin air filter can significantly impact the cooling performance of your BMW 2 Series AC. Here’s how:

Restricted Airflow: The cabin air filter ensures clean air inside the vehicle. If it becomes clogged with dust and debris, it reduces airflow through the vents, making the AC feel weak.
Increased Strain on the AC System: A dirty filter forces the blower motor to work harder, potentially leading to AC system inefficiency.
Reduced Cooling Performance: Even if the AC system is fully functional, a blocked filter prevents proper cold air circulation inside the cabin.
Solution:
The cabin air filter should typically be replaced every 10,000 to 15,000 km o r at least once a year, depending on driving conditions. If you drive in dusty areas, consider replacing it more frequently. To check the filter, locate it behind the glove box and inspect for dirt buildup.
