Engine smoke burning eyes a bit after changing the assesmbly

I own a Toyota Vitz. Recently I got changed the assembly of my car from 1000cc to 13000cc. the mechanic welded a piece of pipe to the exhaust of the car after installing the new assembly. It was not completing touching the assembly. The issue I am facing that it is releasing the burning eye smoke. Overall, the car is working properly and there is now other issue. I checked it mechanic and he said that it is because of the filter in exhaust that has been removed and by installing a filter the eye burning smoke will go away. The car is consuming very high fuel which is 13km/liter.

Check if the O2 Sensor is installed correctly then check the proper and also check the lights if they are working also it could be that your exhaust might be leaking.
