How can I tell if my Suzuki Bolan’s brake pads are worn out?

I’ve started hearing a squeaking sound when braking and sometimes feel reduced braking power. I don’t know how to check brake pads properly on a Bolan. Are there any signs o r symptoms I should look for before it becomes dangerous?

There are several symptoms that indicate worn brake pads:

Squeaking o r squealing noise while braking.

Reduced braking efficiency, meaning the van takes longer to stop.

A grinding sound, which means the pad material is completely gone and metal is touching metal.

Brake pedal feels soft o r spongy.

Brake warning light on the dashboard, if your model has it not all Bolan variants do.

Vibration during braking.

You can visually check by removing the front wheels — if the pad material is less than 3mm thick, it’s time to replace them.
