In Toyota Vitz OverDrive Button?

I have Toyota Vitz and issue with my car is that when OD light is turned on the OD off is written on display I don’t know whether OD is off o r on? The light turns of f when I press the button.

Kindly tell me when is it turned on and I also need help and want to know that when the gear limit is extended to maximum will it affect the fuel average o r not. Kindle guide me in this regard.

when OD is on light off it uses all the gears and changes up lower in the rev range, when OD is off light on it uses all gears except the top one and changes later in the rev range
