Is It Safe to Drive My Suzuki Bolan With a Malfunctioning Crankshaft Position Sensor?

Is It Safe to Drive My Suzuki Bolan With a Malfunctioning Crankshaft Position Sensor?

My van randomly shuts off while driving and struggles to restart. A mechanic suspects the crankshaft position sensor. What risks are involved, and can I keep driving like this until the sensor is replaced?

No, it’s not safe. The crankshaft position sensor tells the ECU when to fire the spark plugs. If it fails:

The engine may randomly shut off, even while driving

It can fail to restart, especially when hot

In rare cases, it may cause misfires o r backfiring

In Bolans, especially those driven on rough o r bumpy roads, the sensor wiring can get damaged. If this issue is ignored, it can leave you stranded, and even cause engine timing problems. Replacing it should be done immediately if symptoms match.
