Reason behind change of engine in majority of used Toyota Passo

Hy everyone
I want to buy 1st Generation, Toyota Passo but I came to know that about 90 percent of car are having engine changed. What is the actual reason behind this. Why mostly cars come with changed engine. Can anyone tell??

Its because the 1krfe 1.0L in Passo and Vitz creates a number of problems, including knocking and concerns with oil consumption.
