Toyota Vitz 2011 Smaller Wheels?

Toyota Vitz 2011 Smaller Wheels?

I currently own a Vitz 2011 1.0 with a set of 186/65/15 tires mounted on beautiful alloy rims, which I purchased in this configuration. However, after using it for a year, my primary concern is its fuel consumption. Previously, I was achieving an average of 9.5-10.8 km/L in city driving conditions with the air conditioning switched on. In an attempt to improve fuel efficiency, I have already cleaned the catalytic converter, performed a thorough engine parts cleaning, replaced the spark plugs with genuine ones, and addressed other fuel injector-related issues.

Despite these efforts, I am still only getting around 10-11 km/L in the city with the AC on, and approximately 11-11.5 km/L without AC.

Someone suggested that I consider using 13 steel rims with 145/80/13 tires, which could potentially enhance fuel efficiency but might result in reduced ground clearance. Given that my main concern is fuel consumption, I have a few questions regarding this suggestion. Would fitting these smaller wheels pose any problems, such as interference with the brake size?

Are there any significant drawbacks to this tire size in terms of overall compatibility with my car? I would greatly appreciate any insights o r advice on this matter. Thank you in advance.

Stick to the original tire size for better handling and ride quality. Your mileage issues might not be solely due to the tires. Consider changing them when its time, and steel wheels wont break the bank.
