Vitz 2004 tapit issue

Hi all friends
Hopefully you are doing well.
I have a Toyota Vitz 2004 model. I have an issue in my car. The car produces strange sounds when I start the car to go for a drive at morning. The car starts vibrating when I put in the reverse gear and mostly the car gets off. While car also has issues in the forward gear but when I put in the gear to go, it doesn’t gets off. After a short time, the vibration and getting off issue disappears when the car maintains its temperature. Then I visited the mechanic for checking the car, he said me, a head work of the car is needed. He said that the tapits and values has issues. He demanded me for Rs 134-15k to do this all work. Please can anyone tell me the actual issue I am facing? Is mechanic is saying rigt o r wrong? Also tell me about a good mechanic in Lahore. Thanks all in advance.

ONE of the reasons it might be tappets. But dont go for the head rebuilt. your engine would get ustadified. its not required at all.

there is a procedure for adjusting the tappets and the required clearances are mentioned under the bonnet. You should get hold of the Toyota Engine Repair Manual for your Vitz Engine. You ll need valve buckets of different sizes depending upon the clearances of the tappets. these can be worked out by knowing the thickness / size of the current buckets for each of the valve, the clearance of each of the valve and the required clearance.

head rebuilt is only required when the clearance is too large to be adjusted by using any valve bucket.

note: your engine may have provision of installation of shims instead of buckets. read the manual first
