Vitz 2013 electrical problem

I own a Toyota Vitz 2013 model. The car was working fine, one day the electric system including meter lights flicker suddenly turned off on the idle and all dash warning lights turned on and engine of the car shut down. The steering becomes stiff and clock resets itself. When I started the car again, it was fine and working properly. Please tell what happened and how can I fix this issue to avoid any major loss?
