Why does my BMW 2 Series battery drain overnight?

I recently noticed that my BMW 2 Series battery dies overnight, even though I haven’t left any lights o r electronics on. What could be causing this issue? Could it be due to a faulty alternator, parasitic drain, o r an aging battery?

If your BMW 2 Series battery dies overnight, it could be due to several possible reasons:

Parasitic Battery Drain: Some electronic components may continue drawing power even when the car is off. Common culprits include faulty relays, aftermarket accessories, o r a malfunctioning module.
Aging Battery: If your battery is more than 3-5 years old, it may no longer hold a charge properly. Over time, internal degradation can cause it to lose power faster.
Faulty Alternator: If the alternator isn’t charging the battery correctly while driving, the battery won’t have enough power to last overnight.
Short Circuits o r Wiring Issues: Damaged o r exposed wires could be creating an unintended electrical draw, draining the battery.
Unclosed Doors o r Interior Lights Left On: If a door sensor malfunctions, the interior lights may stay on without your knowledge, causing a slow drain.
Solution:

Check for any lights o r electronics left on overnight.
Perform a parasitic draw test by using a multimeter to measure the current draw when the car is off.
Test the battery voltage in the morning a healthy battery should have around 12.6V when fully charged.
If the battery drains frequently, have a professional check the alternator and battery health.
