Why is my BMW 2 Series showing a check engine light related to the catalytic converter?

My BMW 2 Series recently displayed a check engine light, and after scanning the codes, I found it was related to the catalytic converter. What could be causing this issue, and how can I fix it?

If your BMW 2 Series displays a check engine light CEL related to the catalytic converter, the most common causes include:

Catalytic Converter Clogging – Over time, the converter can get blocked due to excessive carbon buildup, affecting exhaust flow.
Faulty Oxygen Sensors O2 Sensors – These sensors monitor emissions if they fail, they may trigger a false warning.
Engine Misfires o r Rich Fuel Mixture – If the engine burns excessive fuel, unburnt fuel enters the catalytic converter, damaging it over time.
Fuel Quality Issues in Pakistan – Low-quality o r leaded fuel can cause contamination, reducing efficiency.
Exhaust Leaks – A small leak before the catalytic converter can cause sensor readings to be incorrect.
Solution:

Scan for error codes P0420, P0430 are common for catalytic issues.
Check and replace faulty O2 sensors.
Ensure the engine is not misfiring o r running too rich.
Inspect for exhaust leaks.
If the converter is clogged, try a catalytic cleaner before replacing it.
