Why Is My Radiator Cap Leaking Coolant in Suzuki Bolan?

Coolant is often seen around the radiator cap area after a drive. I suspect the cap is leaking o r can’t hold pressure. How important is the radiator cap in maintaining coolant pressure, and can a faulty cap cause coolant loss o r overheating in a Suzuki Bolan?

A faulty radiator cap is one of the most overlooked causes of coolant loss and overheating. The cap is designed to maintain a certain pressure in the system. If it’s not sealing properly:

It allows coolant to boil and escape through the overflow.

You may see wetness o r staining around the cap area.

It causes the cooling system to lose pressure, reducing the boiling point of coolant.

In Pakistan, many Bolan vans still use old o r low-quality radiator caps. Replacing it with a genuine, pressure-rated cap usually 0.9 bar for Bolan is a cheap but effective fix.
