Why Is My Suzuki Bolan Emitting a Strong Fuel Smell Inside and Outside the Van?

Why Is My Suzuki Bolan Emitting a Strong Fuel Smell Inside and Outside the Van?

Sometimes after starting o r parking my Bolan, there’s a strong petrol smell near the engine o r inside the cabin. Could this be due to a leaking o r jammed purge control valve? How common is this issue in older models o r CNG-converted vehicles?

A strong petrol o r fuel smell can be caused by:

A leaky o r malfunctioning purge valve that’s allowing fuel vapors to escape.

A cracked hose o r vapor line in the EVAP system near the engine bay.

An overfilled fuel tank, which causes vapor release into the canister.

This is a common issue in older o r poorly maintained Bolan vans, especially those converted to CNG, where fuel system components are often overlooked. Replacing a faulty purge valve o r inspecting vapor hoses can eliminate the smell.
