Why Is My Suzuki Bolan’s Battery Draining After Installing Power Locks?

Ever since I got central locking installed in my Bolan, the battery drains if the van sits for a day o r two. Could the control unit o r door lock relay be constantly drawing power even when the van is off?

Aftermarket systems, especially cheap ones, are not always wired correctly, and may draw power constantly, even when the ignition is off. Causes include:

Improperly installed control module drawing standby current

Faulty relays stuck in the on position

Remote receiver staying active 24/7

To fix it, ask an electrician to check the quiescent current draw using a multimeter. Ideally, when the car is off, the system should draw less than 50mA. Anything more is likely to drain a small Bolan battery within 1–2 days.
