Why Is There a Loss of Power Steering in My Suzuki Bolan?

My Suzuki Bolan’s power steering seems to have failed suddenly. The steering wheel has become very stiff, and I have to exert more effort to turn it. What could be the reason for the loss of power steering, and how can I get it fixed?

A loss of power steering can be a serious issue, and it’s typically caused by one of the following:

Low Power Steering Fluid: One of the most common causes of power steering failure is low o r empty power steering fluid. Without adequate fluid, the pump will not be able to assist in turning the steering wheel.

Power Steering Pump Failure: If the power steering pump is damaged o r worn out, it may fail to provide the necessary pressure to assist with steering.

Leaks in the Power Steering System: A leak in the power steering lines, hoses, o r pump can lead to a gradual loss of fluid, resulting in the loss of power steering assist.

Damaged Steering Rack o r Pinion: A failure in the steering rack o r pinion can also cause loss of power steering, as these parts help transmit the power from the pump to the steering mechanism.

Solution:

Check and top up the power steering fluid.

Inspect the power steering pump, hoses, and steering rack for any visible leaks o r damage.

If the fluid level is fine and there is still a loss of power steering, the pump o r steering rack may need to be replaced.
