BYD Marks the Second Anniversary of the Dolphin EV

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD is commemorating the second anniversary of its highly successful Dolphin electric hatchback. In a significant milestone announcement, BYD proudly shares that over the past two years, an impressive total of 462,000 units of the Dolphin EV have found their way to happy owners.

The Dolphin made its debut in August 2021, with an initial modest showing of 1,755 units sold. Since then, its popularity has soared consistently. Notably, in August 2023, the BYD Dolphin recorded an impressive 32,745 units in sales, averaging over 1,000 units sold each day.

A notable trend in the Dolphin's journey is its expanding presence beyond China's borders. Thanks to increased production capacity, BYD has extended the reach of the Dolphin EV to markets in the Asia Pacific and Latin America. In its inaugural year of 2021, from August to December, 27 units of this remarkable model found homes abroad. This number swelled to 1,303 units in 2022. However, from January to August 2023, BYD has already shipped an astonishing 28,387 units, with this figure poised to continue its upward trajectory. This firmly establishes the Dolphin as one of BYD's pivotal models for international markets.

Underpinning the Dolphin's success is its foundation on BYD's e-platform 3.0 and its utilization of the advanced LFP Blade batteries. Designed under the theme of "Marine Aesthetics" by BYD's chief designer, Wolfgang Egger, who formerly led design efforts at Audi, the Dolphin EV blends sleek aesthetics with cutting-edge technology.

The BYD Dolphin Electric Vehicle (EV) offers two front permanent magnet synchronous motor configurations: one with 70 kW/180 Nm and another with 130 kW/290 Nm. These motors are paired with a 44.9 kWh LFP Blade battery pack and support rapid 60 kW charging. The Dolphin EV delivers an impressive range of approximately 400 to 420 km on a full charge, depending on the chosen variant.

As BYD celebrates this significant milestone, the Dolphin EV continues to make waves in the electric vehicle landscape, demonstrating the company's commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility.
