Why is my Suzuki Khyber giving poor fuel average despite normal driving?

I used to get decent mileage from my Khyber, but recently the fuel average has ped even though my driving style hasnt changed. I’m wondering if this could be due to poor carburetor tuning, clogged air filters, o r maybe worn-out spark plugs. What’s the best way to diagnose and fix this?

1. Carburetor Not Properly Tuned
Khyber is a carbureted car unless swapped to EFI. If it’s not tuned correctly, it will burn more fuel.

Fix: Go to a mechanic who specializes in carburetor tuning—makes a big difference.

2. Worn Out Spark Plugs o r Plug Wires
If spark plugs are old, dirty, o r the wires are weak, the engine doesn’t burn fuel efficiently.

Fix: Replace with good quality plugs like NGK o r Bosch, and check ignition wires.

3. Choked Air Filter
A dirty air filter restricts airflow, making the engine burn more fuel.

Fix: Clean o r replace the air filter—it’s cheap and easy.

4. Low Tire Pressure
Underinflated tires create more drag, which means more fuel consumption.

Fix: Check tire pressure once a week keep it at the recommended PSI usually around 30–32.

5. Old o r Wrong Engine Oil
Thick o r degraded oil makes the engine work harder.

Fix: Use the correct grade of oil usually 10W-40 o r 20W-50 for older engines in warmer climates.

6. Excessive Idling o r Short Trips
If youre mostly driving short distances o r sitting in traffic with the engine running, it kills mileage.

Fix: Combine trips, and avoid unnecessary idling.

7. Dragging Brakes o r Misaligned Wheels
If brakes are slightly engaged o r alignment is off, the engine needs more power to move the car.

Fix: Get the brakes checked and do a wheel alignment.

8. Heavy Foot on the Pedal
Even if youre not driving fast, quick acceleration o r keeping the RPMs high burns more fuel.
