CDA Raises Metro Bus Ticket Prices by Up to 80%

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made a substantial adjustment to the fare rates for Islamabad's Green, Orange, and Blue Line Metro buses, attributing the changes to the ongoing inflationary pressures within the transportation sector.

CDA officials have revealed that the fare rates for both the Orange and Green Line buses will be raised from their previous Rs. 30 to a new rate of Rs. 50. For passengers utilizing the Blue Line bus service, which operates from Rawat to PIMS hospital, the fare has increased even further, going from Rs. 50 to Rs. 90.

These newly revised fares are set to be implemented across Islamabad following an official notification from the CDA. Chairman of the CDA, Anwar-ul-Haq, has explained that this fare hike became necessary due to a scarcity of funds, which made it increasingly challenging to sustain the operation of buses at subsidized rates.

The abrupt surge in ticket prices has stirred concerns within the general public, who are already grappling with the weight of escalating inflation affecting their everyday lives.

6th Road Metro Bus Station in Disrepair

Adding to the commuter woes in the region, the 6th Road Metro Bus Station in Rawalpindi suffered extensive damage during the protests that occurred on May 9th. Despite several months having passed since those incidents, the Punjab administration has been unable to restore the station to its operational state.

With the station remaining non-functional, travelers from the 6th Road area are left with no choice but to divert their commute to either Rehmanabad or Shamsabad Bus Stations. This shift in transport hubs has led to added inconveniences for the local residents who must now undertake additional walking distances to access the alternative stations.
