EV Clash: Seres 3 vs. MG ZS vs. MG4 Essence

Pakistan has recently welcomed a pair of intriguing additions to its electric vehicle (EV) market. Initially, MG Pakistan introduced the MG4 and MG ZS, and now DFSK has unveiled the all-new Seres 3. These three vehicles bring a wealth of new specifications, features, and options to the table, prompting us to conduct a comprehensive comparison to assist consumers in making informed decisions.

Our comparison focuses on the Seres 3, MG ZS, and MG4 Essence across various aspects such as battery performance, power, exterior design, interior features, and safety options.

In terms of dimensions, the Seres 3 stands out as the longest, widest, and highest among the trio. It measures 4385 mm in length, 1850 mm in width, and 1650 mm in height. In comparison, the MG ZS Luxury is 4314 mm long, 1809 mm wide, and 1644 mm high, while the MG4 Essence has a length of 4287 mm, a width of 1836 mm, and a height of 1504 mm. Notably, the Seres 3 and MG ZS fall into the B-Segment C-SUV category, while the MG4 is a C-segment hatchback.

DFKS's crossover SUV, the Seres 3, boasts an electric motor power of 120 kW, a battery capacity of 49.34 kWh, and a range of 403 kilometers per charge. In contrast, the MG ZS features 141 kW of electric power, a 51.1 kWh battery, and a range of 320 kilometers. The MG4 Essence comes with a powerful 201 kW electric motor, a 64.0 kWh battery, and an impressive 435 kilometers of range. It's essential to note that the claimed range for all three vehicles is based on the company's specifications and may vary based on driving conditions.

The Seres 3 distinguishes itself with an electronic sunroof, while the MG ZS offers a combination of sun and moon roofs. The MG4 Essence, however, does not provide a sunroof option. Additionally, the Seres 3 and MG feature 18-inch alloy wheels, surpassing the 17-inch wheels on the MG ZS.

Examining the interior, both the Seres 3 and MG ZS boast leather seats, whereas the MG4 Essence features PU leather and fabric seats. The Seres 3 leads in infotainment size with a 10.25-inch display, compared to the 8-inch display in the MG ZS and the 10.12-inch display in the MG4 Essence. All three models come equipped with heated seats for both the driver and passenger.

Common safety features across all three EVs include 6 airbags, Lane Departure Warning, and front and rear parking sensors. Notably, both MG vehicles offer Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring, features absent in the Seres 3. The Seres 3 and MG ZS include Auto Emergency Braking, a feature not present in the MG4 Essence. Lastly, all three models come equipped with a Collision Warning System.
