Fuel Shortage is Expected to Impact Major Cities in Pakistan

Due to the unstable law and order situation in Lahore and other cities in Pakistan, oil marketing companies (OMCs) are facing challenges in maintaining adequate fuel supplies. The Petroleum Dealers Association has warned that over 50% of filling stations could potentially run out of fuel, which is causing concerns for citizens and businesses alike.
Jahanzeb Malik, Secretary General of the Petroleum Dealers Association, explained that the supply interruption is a precautionary measure due to the current unrest in Pakistan. OMCs have suspended supplies to protect their staff and customers as tensions continue to escalate, with protests and demonstrations taking place nationwide following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The protests have led to roadblocks, traffic congestion, and violence, making it difficult for OMCs to deliver petroleum products. This fuel shortage could have
significant consequences for transportation, commuting, and various other businesses, including critical services such as hospitals and emergency responders that rely on fuel.
Authorities are attempting to manage the situation across Pakistan, but PTI representatives have stated that protests will continue until Khan is released. The story is still unfolding as the situation remains fluid across the country.
