Honda Launches S7 Electric SUV

Honda has officially stepped into China's electric vehicle market with the Honda S7 Electric SUV. Previously known as the Ye S7, this model is produced through the Dongfeng-Honda partnership. With its advanced technology, competitive pricing, and modern features, Honda aims to attract a substantial customer base. Entering a market already dominated by established electric vehicles, the company hopes the Honda S7 EV launch will strengthen its presence in the growing segment.

The exterior of the Honda S7 electric car boasts a contemporary look with Y-shaped headlights and a streamlined body. Measuring 4,750 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, along with a 2,930 mm wheelbase, it closely rivals the Tesla Model Y. While slightly smaller in overall size, the Honda S7 SUV specs reveal a longer wheelbase, offering enhanced cabin space. The cargo capacity is 471 liters, which is lower than the Model Y’s 854 liters. The base model includes 19-inch wheels, while premium trims come with 21-inch alloy wheels for a sportier aesthetic.

Inside the Honda S7 SUV features, a massive 24-inch touchscreen display dominates the dashboard, accompanied by a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster. An advanced 41.9-inch augmented reality head-up display provides real-time driving information, enhancing the overall experience. Heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a standard eight-speaker audio system ensure comfort and entertainment. The high-end variant upgrades to a premium 16-speaker Bose system. Safety is also a priority, with the Honda Sensing driver assistance system providing extra security on the road.

Powering the Honda S7 EV China, two powertrain choices cater to different driving preferences. The rear-wheel-drive variant features a single motor generating 268 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. It is equipped with an 89.8 kWh ternary NMC battery, delivering a Honda S7 electric SUV range of 650 km under CLTC conditions. The all-wheel-drive version includes dual motors producing a combined 469 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Despite using the same battery, its range slightly drops to 620 km. Fast-charging technology enables an 80% recharge in just 36 minutes.

The Honda S7 electric SUV review highlights its impressive build quality, featuring a torsional rigidity of 40,000 Nm/degree and 11 airbags for maximum safety. The suspension system consists of an independent double-wishbone setup at the front and a five-link independent rear suspension with continuous damping control. The Honda S7 Electric SUV release date brings it to the competitive Chinese EV market at a starting price of RMB 259,900 (€32,300) for the rear-wheel-drive model, while the top-tier version begins at RMB 309,900 (€38,520). Positioned slightly below the Tesla Model Y in price, it faces strong competition from Chinese automakers like BYD, XPeng, and Zeekr, which offer budget-friendly alternatives with advanced technology.
