Honda P7 Electric SUV Launching in China on March 26
As China's electric vehicle industry surges forward, GAC is making a bold move by unveiling an innovative mid-size SUV, the Honda P7. Built from the ground up as a fully electric vehicle, this model showcases Honda latest design philosophy. Alongside the new launch, GAC Honda has also invested in a New Energy Vehicle (NEV) factory, reinforcing its commitment to the Electric Vehicles revolution.
Honda P7: Blending Branding with Innovation
The Honda P7 is the second model to feature the recently introduced Ye logo, a modernized version of the classic Honda emblem, now minus the outer ring. While initially introduced as a separate sub-brand, Honda is now integrating Ye models under its primary branding. Interestingly, the P7 shares its engineering foundation with the Honda S7, which is manufactured by Dongfeng Honda.
A Futuristic Design Statement
With a sleek, modern appearance, the Honda P7 features sharp LED headlights, elongated taillights, and a sculpted lower air intake. Prominent wheel arches, an aerodynamic rear spoiler, and a stylish rear diffuser further enhance its striking aesthetic. One of the most futuristic additions is the side-view cameras, replacing traditional mirrors, which provide enhanced aerodynamics and a more modern feel.
Honda P7 Interior: A Blend of Comfort and Technology
Inside, the Honda P7 offers a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, positioned centrally for a seamless user experience. The cabin sports a two-tone, three-spoke steering wheel and a slim digital instrument cluster for essential driving data. Digital side-view cameras display live footage on door-mounted screens, while an advanced digital rear-view mirror integrates a built-in DVR (Digital Video Recorder) for added safety.
Advanced Safety with Honda Sensing 360+
Safety is a top priority in the Honda P7, which features the enhanced Honda Sensing 360+ suite. This system builds upon Honda Sensing 360 by introducing next-level features, including Highway Navigation Assist. The P7 boasts the following dimensions:
Specification | Measurement |
Length | 4750 mm |
Width | 1930 mm |
Height | 1625 mm |
Wheelbase | 2930 mm |
With these proportions, the Honda P7 competes with top-tier mid-size SUVs, including the Porsche Macan.
Power & Performance: Single and Dual Motor Options
The Honda P7 comes in two drivetrain options:
Configuration | Motor Output | Range (CLTC) |
2WD (Single Motor) | 200 kW (268 hp) | 650 km |
AWD (Dual Motor) | 350 kW (469 hp) | 620 km |
Both variants are powered by an 89.9 kWh battery sourced from CATL, ensuring long-range efficiency.
Expected Pricing & Availability
Though official pricing details for the Honda P7 are yet to be revealed, its counterpart, the Honda S7, starts at 259,900 yuan (~35,700 USD). It is expected that the P7 will follow a similar price range. More updates and detailed specifications will be announced at its official launch on March 26.
