Kia Starts Local Production Opens Booking for Sportage

Kia Lucky Motors Pakistan Limited is one of the eight new prospective entrants in the auto sector and it has completed the commissioning of equipment and pilot production successfully and it has commenced CKD Completely Knocked Down operations at the plant, which is located at Port Qasim, Karachi. KLM is the joint adventure of Lucky group and Kia Motors of South Korea. The total cost of the project of the company amounts to Rs.19.5 billion. KLM has offered this state of the art facility and it has the capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles per annum on the double shift basis. The booking of SUV of Sportage, first model, will be started from 30 June 2019 and the delivery will be started from first week of August 2019. The notification shows that booking of PICANTO hatchback is expected to be started during August 2019 and the delivery of the vehicle will be started from October 2019. Kia Lucky Motors Pakistan Ltd applied for the Greenfield status on 13 March 2017 and it was awarded on 19 June 2019. The planned investment in this project is approximately $190 million.
