Prices of Petrol and Diesel Remain Unchanged
The Ministry of Finance has announced that fuel prices Pakistan will remain the same for the next 15 days. Petrol price today will continue to be Rs. 254.63 per liter, and diesel price update shows it remains at Rs. 258.64 per liter, according to the latest notification. This means the current petrol and diesel rate Pakistan stay unchanged.
Petroleum Levy Adjusted
Though petrol diesel prices haven't changed, adjustments have been made to the petrol levy increase. This move helps balance the financial burden without directly raising fuel rate unchanged for consumers.
Levy on Petrol and Diesel Increased
The petrol levy increase has been by Rs. 8.72 per liter, bringing it up to Rs. 78.72 from the earlier Rs. 70. Diesel's levy has also gone up by Rs. 7.01, reaching Rs. 77.01 per liter. These changes were made through a Presidential Ordinance after cabinet approval, forming part of the government fuel policy.
Legal Backing for Hike
The increase in levy was authorized under the Petroleum Products Ordinance of 1961, which was recently amended. This legal route allowed the government to enforce the change without adjusting petroleum prices news.
PM Explains the Decision
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that despite falling international oil prices, fuel prices Pakistan will stay the same. He mentioned that the savings from not reducing prices will be invested in Balochistan, particularly for Kachhi Canal and the Quetta-Karachi N-25 highway projects to help uplift the region.
